Online Bingo Security Tips

The BBC recently reported figures from an official survey that looked into the effects of cybercrime. The report found that there were an estimated 3.6 million cases of fraud and over 2 million computer misuse offences in just one year. The report further highlighted that offences had risen 8% for the year and argued that fraud was now the most common crime in the UK. As a result, we thought we would come up with some tips and tricks for our bingo roomies on how they can stay safe playing online bingo!

General Device Security

This is super basic stuff and is all about the general security on your computer, mobile, or laptop. The firewall is arguably the most basic bit of security that you can activate and most devices will come with one built in so be sure to check that it is switched on. You would be amazed at how many players are unaware that their firewall has been turned off.

Password Choice

Your bingo account has access to real funds and if your password is compromised then your account can also be compromised. Of course, most players will have their own password protocol but in a general sense try not to make the password easy to guess. We know this sounds trivial but people’s passwords get hacked or guessed every day so it’s better to be safe than sorry. A combination of letters and numbers with some uppercase and some lowercase is always advised to give you the most robust password possible.

General Lobby Tips

As you are probably aware, Cheers Bingo has a lot of roomies and while the vast majority are just there to enjoy the game, you can never be too careful so we would not recommend using your real name as a username and we generally advise from giving it out in the chat although this is entirely up to yourself. Of course, never give out your address or phone number or even your date of birth!

Your Deposit Account

It can be tempting to make a large deposit and leave the funds in your bingo account for the sake of convenience. Before doing this make sure you have read our wagering requirements so that you understand how easily a big withdrawal can be made. Additionally, consider making deposits when you are physically about to play the game so that you do not need to keep money in your bingo account any longer than necessary.

Are You Secure?

These are just a number of things you can consider when staying safe online. We would recommend reviewing your account security and using this article as a checklist. Also, if you have any other ideas for bingo security then leave us a message on Facebook or Twitter and we will add them to this list. Have fun and stay safe!
